Season 1 -- Full Episode Guide

The Straight Act

Six episodes. Twelve contestants. One pair of Golden Cargo Shorts. This is the show that nobody asked for and everyone needed.

First Impressions

Episode 1

First Impressions

"You never get a second chance to crush a handshake."

Synopsis

Twelve men arrive at the convention center. Each must introduce himself with a firm handshake and exactly one sentence about sports. One contestant opens with "I love musical theater" and is immediately eliminated. The remaining eleven are given cargo shorts and told to change. Two men refuse. They are also eliminated.

Challenge

The Handshake Gauntlet: shake hands with 50 strangers in 10 minutes. Scores based on firmness, duration, and eye contact.

Eliminated: 3 contestants

The Sports Talk Challenge

Episode 2

The Sports Talk Challenge

"Discuss the game for 30 minutes. Nobody is told which game."

Synopsis

Contestants are placed in a mock sports bar and told to "talk about the game." No specific game is mentioned. The men must sustain a conversation using only vague statements like "that ref was blind" and "we really needed that win." One contestant accidentally reveals he knows the actual score and is viewed with suspicion for the rest of the episode.

Challenge

Survive 30 minutes of sports conversation using only 5 approved phrases. Bonus points for confidently saying "we" about a team you don't follow.

Eliminated: 2 contestants

Group Date: Home Depot

Episode 3

Group Date: Home Depot

"Navigate aisle 7 with purpose. Ask zero employees for help."

Synopsis

The men are dropped in a Home Depot with a shopping list of items they've never heard of (toggle bolts, PEX crimpers, a dado blade). They must find every item without asking a single employee. Hidden cameras capture one contestant Googling "what does caulk look like" in the bathroom. Another man picks up a random pipe fitting, examines it knowingly, and puts it back. He receives the highest score.

Challenge

Find 8 items in 20 minutes. Points deducted for asking staff, looking confused, or saying "I think it's in plumbing."

Eliminated: 1 contestant

The Vulnerability Trap

Episode 4

The Vulnerability Trap

"A producer asks how you're feeling. Say 'good' or go home."

Synopsis

In one-on-one interviews, a producer asks each contestant increasingly personal questions. "How are you feeling?" "Do you miss your family?" "What are you most afraid of?" The correct answer to all of these is "I'm good" or "Can't complain." One man tears up talking about his dog and the judges deliberate for 45 minutes about whether that counts as an acceptable emotion.

Challenge

Survive a 15-minute emotional interview. Express zero feelings. The dog exception clause is debated but not ratified.

Eliminated: 1 contestant

Fantasy Suite: Poker Night

Episode 5

Fantasy Suite: Poker Night

"Cards, beer, and exactly one acceptable emotion."

Synopsis

The final four are invited to a poker night. They must play Texas Hold'em for 3 hours, drink beer they don't enjoy, and express only one emotion: mild frustration about the river card. One contestant accidentally wins a hand and celebrates with a fist pump that the judges rule "too enthusiastic." Another man slow-plays pocket aces while maintaining perfect emotional neutrality and is awarded the episode's MVP.

Challenge

Win (or lose) at poker while maintaining emotional flatline. Acceptable expressions: slight head shake, exhale through nose, muttered "unbelievable."

Eliminated: 1 contestant

The Final Rose Ceremony

Episode 6

The Final Rose Ceremony

"Who has what it takes to blend in at any cookout, tailgate, or guys' trip?"

Synopsis

The final three contestants face the ultimate test: a full day of back-to-back straight scenarios. Morning tailgate. Afternoon cookout. Evening poker night. Each must grill a steak (medium-rare, no exceptions), maintain a 4-hour sports conversation, change a tire (they will be given an already-flat tire), and deliver a toast that includes the phrase "to the boys." The winner receives the Golden Cargo Shorts and the title of Straight Act Champion.

Challenge

Complete all 4 challenges without breaking character. The Golden Cargo Shorts have 14 pockets.

Eliminated: 2 contestants. 1 champion crowned.
